Amazon Fashion Store

Contrary to online retailers who keep their entire inventory displayed, which can be difficult and confusing for customers, Amazon Fashion Store offers an experience that is customized to the individual needs of each customer. The store's algorithm selects clothes based on personal information supplied by the customer and allows customers to request more sizes and styles via touchscreen displays in each of the stores' 40 fitting rooms.

Customers are greeted by staff who ask whether it's their first visit in the store and offer to help them begin. The app will then suggest similar items according to what they like. They're also urged to share their style, fit and other details via the app for more refined recommendations in the future.

After entering the store the staff member will lead the customer to a fitting room and have them start trying on outfits that were recommended by the algorithm. The customer can swipe upwards or downwards on a touchscreen to decide if they are satisfied with the outfit. In the event they want to try different items they can ask staff to come back to the dressing room with additional options.

The store stocks a range of well-known brands such as Champion and Amazon Essentials. It also stocks Levi's and Adidas as well as Kendall & Kylie and BB Dakota. The store also has special editions of influencer-curated collections.

One of our experts, Vargas, was a huge fan of the Prettygarden collection that she described as "like the perfect blend of professional and feminine." She spotted a lot of pretty, romantic pieces that would be perfect for summer brunches or bridal showers. Laudort loved the collection's slick jackets and dresses with pretty details like lace and bows.

Another expert, GlobalData's Neil Saunders, was a less than impressed with the store. He said that while the store was innovative, it lacked the right perspective and was "too complex." Saunders said he believes Amazon is still committed to brick-and-mortar stores, but that its decision to shut down its stores and bookstores indicates that the company is focused on what is most important to customers.
