On 1st October 1953, Telugu-speaking areas were separated from the composite Madras Presidency and a new Andhra State was formed. The Telangana portion was added to the Andhra and on November 1st, 1956 (by State Reorganization Act, 1956) it became a full-fledged state Andhra Pradesh.
