My name is Michael Geller and I was born in the Soviet Union (modern day Tashkent, Uzbekistan). My family immigrated to the United States when I was 5 years old. I grew up in San Francisco and I attended the University of Southern California for my undergraduate degree in Sociology and Business Law. Although I always had a passion for law, my mother was always encouraging me to become a M.D. because that was her passion. I compromised with my mother and I completed a medical program as a Physician Assistant at the City University of New York. I then worked as a PA in pain medicine for 7 years. Even though being a PA was a rewarding career, I felt unsatisfied with my choice. As a result, I made the decision to go back to school and pursue a legal education. I had to work full-time to support my family so I attended law school part-time in the evening, which resulted in 18-hour days for 4 years. I graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law during the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked full-time during bar preparation, and I took the first-ever online bar exam in October 2020 after it was rescheduled twice by the State Bar of California. It was a very stressful time, but it all worked out when I discovered that I passed. After becoming licensed as an attorney, I resigned from my job as a PA and I started my own law firm focusing on Family Law.
